Anna Maria Alberghetti & Julius LaRosa

The daughter of Italian musicians, soprano Anna Maria Alberghetti was singing on the European concert circuit at the age of 12. Two years later, she made an impressive debut at Carnegie Hall. Hoping to promote Anna as "the new Deanna Durbin,"

Paramount pictures signed her to a film contract and Anna was given a big-guns "introducing" buildup for her first Paramount effort, Frank Capra's Here Comes the Groom with Bing Crosby. She followed this with a leading role in the celebrity-studded The Stars are Singing, a genial musical based loosely on Anna's real-life rise to prominence. . . . . "10,000 Bedrooms" with Dean Martin, "The Stars Are Shining" with Rosemary Clooney, "The Last Command" with Sterling Hayden, "The Medium" with the Metropolitan Opera's great Lauritz Melchoir and co-starred in Cinderfella with Jerry Lewis.

Anna Maria Alberghetti launched her Broadway career in the hit musical Carnival adapted from the 1953 Leslie Caron movie vehicle Lili with a Tony winning performance. Anna Maria has given illustrious performances in "West Side Story," "The Sound of Music," "Cabaret," "Camelot," "Fanny," "Most Happy Fella," "The Boyfriend," "The Student Prince," "Side By Sondheim," and toured in the Kopit-Yeston production of "Phantom."

Returning to the theatre, as well as to the concert and lecture stage today, she is warmed by the affection of a public, which has maintained an interest in her talent and beauty since childhood. "One great advantage of working all your life is that people are wonderful," she says. "They remember and enjoy from so many points of view. Some people have attended a concert, others were touched by a lecture or one of my films has entertained them. I gained an entirely new audience during the years I was associated with the Good Seasons television commercials. It's satisfying to feel special and familiar to so many people."

Today, Anna is busy with an international schedule of concerts, lectures, and personal appearances and enjoys her frequent shows with Julius LaRosa.

At twenty-two, he was a regular on the Arthur Godfrey Television Show. With great success he lasted twenty three months until the headlines announced "Godfrey Fires Protégé". Julius went on to collect stage credits in Neil Simon's first Broadway success, Come Blow Your Horn. Later headlining musical shows throughout North America.

His career that would include the finest rooms in the country - Carnegie Hall, Philadelphia's Academy of Music, cabarets like Rainbow and Stars, and jazz rooms like Michael's Pub, as well as summer fairs and theaters. Today Julius regularly plays the finest casinos, and theaters from coast to coast, He recently played to sold out shows at Foxwoods Casino, and is often invited to perform matinee dinner shows on the senior circuit.

LaRosa is truly a seasoned entertainer, and to quote the New York Times "…his singing is very direct and unpretentious - he can wrap his voice tenaciously around a melody line and bring out the best in it. He is certainly an equal partner to the song lyric." Julius continues to give life to many of the popular songs from the 40's and 50's. His hit recording of "Eh Cumpari" has become an Italian Tradition throughout North America.
